Adopt from Prince William Animal Services

Why should I adopt a dog or a cat? If I do adopt, will it fit into my life?

Studies have shown that pet ownership can lead to reduced stress levels, increased physical activity, and improved mental health, making dogs and cats not just pets but valuable partners in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Dogs are remarkable creatures known for their ability to adapt to various environments and situations. This adaptability is largely attributed to their evolutionary history, social nature, and keen sense of awareness. Initially domesticated from wolves, dogs have developed a range of traits that enable them to thrive in diverse settings, from rural farms to bustling urban landscapes.

Cats are incredibly adaptable and resilient and thrive alongside people everywhere we live. The measure of a cat’s comfort around humans is know as socialization. Each cat falls somewhere along a vast socialization continuum.

Both species have a social intelligence that allows them to adjust their behavior based on the needs of their owners, whether providing comfort during stressful times or engaging in playful activities.

When they’re adopted and have new owners, it is only a matter of time before they understand the environment.  Although, you still notice that they miss what used to be their former homes. When, however, shown intense love and care, they become totally relaxed and in tune with their new home.

So, now’s the time to fill that space in your heart and home with a fur-friend!

Adopting through the Prince William Animal Services Center is a cost-effective way to adopt. Adoption fees are lower than purchasing from a breeder and we include vaccines and microchipping.

During our Open House on September 22, all adoption fees along with dog and cat spay or neuter fees will be sponsored by the Prince William SPCA. The open house at the Animal Services Center at 14807 Bristow Rd., Manassas, begins at noon and will have food, activities, crafts, giveaways and of course, plenty of pets ready to join their new family!
