Childhood experiences, both positive and negative, have a tremendous impact on future development, lifelong health, and opportunity. Learning more about Adverse Childhood Experiences, referred to as ACEs, is important to not only prevent this toxic stress from occurring within our community but also to better support individuals who experienced trauma in childhood. Join the Community Service’s Wellness and Prevention Team in learning more about the science of relationships and the healing power of hope and resilience.
Participants will be able to increase their knowledge of:
1. The impacts of childhood adversity and developmental trauma on individuals and as a public health issue 2. Identifying and addressing adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
3. The neurobiological effects of adversity on development
4. How ACEs can impact an individual’s mental and physical health
5. Developing a trauma-informed approach to care- including self-care
