Beginning March 31, 2025, the Prince William County Public Works Solid Waste Division will implement a Driver’s License Verification System at the County Landfill and Compost Facility. This new system is designed to reduce wait times, enhance efficiency and streamline operations, and improve accuracy in verifying county residency.
The upgraded system will replace manual, visual ID checks with secure ID scanning technology to verify Prince William County residency. No personal data will be stored or retained—the system will only check the address on the Virginia DMV-issued ID at the time of entry to confirm residency. This system will also replace Solid Waste Facility decals, which are no longer being issued by the County Tax Administration Office.
Additionally, the system will automatically determine whether a resident is from the Towns of Dumfries, Occoquan, Haymarket, and Quantico or the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, as those residents do not pay the County Solid Waste Management Fee and will be subject to applicable disposal charges when using the county’s solid waste facilities. "This new verification system is a significant step forward in improving the customer experience and service efficiency at our solid waste facilities,” said Khattab Shammout, Director of Prince William County Public Works. “By streamlining the entry process and ensuring accurate fee assessments, we’re enhancing convenience for our residents while maintaining our commitment to responsible waste management."
