    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 9, 2024 Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) Lottery Serving Special Population Only The Prince William County Office of Housing & Community Development (OHCD) will be having an on-line Housing Choice Voucher Program Lottery for the Mainstream Specialized program. The Lottery will take place from 9:00 AM through 4:00 PM May 28, 2024. Mainstream Wait List (100 randomly chosen applications will form a Wait List from the Lottery) To be eligible for this application, must meet the following requirements:  Mainstream vouchers serve households that include a non-elderly person with a disability  Non-elderly is defined as someone between 18 years of age but less than 62 years of age and;  Live or work in Prince William County To Apply for the Mainstream, Wait List visit: https://www.waitlistcheck.com/VA1087 This Lottery is for the above program only. Applications will NOT be provided or accepted at OHCD. Applicants that require a reasonable accommodation may call 703-792-7531 between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM May 28, 2024, during the Application opening period only. Individuals with hearing or speech disabilities using TDD or TTY technology may call a Virginia Relay by dialing 7-1-1. There is no cost to apply, and no one will ask an applicant for any payment. Please keep in mind that there are a limited number of vouchers available and by submitting an application does not mean you are eligible or will receive a voucher for either program. Making the lottery does not mean that you are eligible for the Mainstream Program, until your application is selected from the Mainstream lottery waitlist to conduct a required program briefing, and eligibility review. PUBLICATIONS AND REPORTS

Prince William County (PWC), along with the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, applied to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) July 1991, to be designated as an "Entitlement Urban County."  In order to be considered for direct federal funding from HUD under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) programs, the County prepared and submitted a "Comprehensive housing Affordability Strategy for Fiscal Years 1992 - 1996."  HUD granted "Entitlement Urban County" status to Prince William County, on behalf of all three Area jurisdictions (Prince William County and the cities of Manassas and Manassas park) effective July 1, 1992.  The County's Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) was created on July 1, 1992.  The County's Office of housing and Community Development (OHCD) was created on July 1, 1992 and given lead responsibility for housing planning and programs of the Prince William Area, per Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) Resolution 92-683.

As an "Entitlement Urban County" that receives Community Planning and Development funds, OHCD must prepare and submit to HUD a 5-year Consolidated Housing and Community Development Plan [Consolidated Plan], Annual Action Plan [AAP] and Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report [CAPER].

As required by federal regulations, public meetings are held and public comments are solicited for the Consolidated Plan, AAP and CAPER.  Copies of these documents are made available to the general public at all regional libraries and major government offices throughout the county and both cities.
