Social Services believes that every child should be afforded the opportunity to live a life free from abuse and neglect. The Prevention Team strives to prevent abuse/neglect and foster care placement of children in Prince William County by providing services to children and caregivers to strengthen families, enhance child well-being, prevent child abuse/neglect from occurring or reoccurring and to eliminate the need for out-of-home care. Referrals are received from the Child Protective Services (CPS) Intake Hotline. The Prevention team’s work consists of referrals received from the CPS Intake Hotline that do not meet the definition of abuse/neglect but may exhibit risk factors associated with abuse/neglect of children. Our services include case management, information and referrals for individual and family therapy, behavioral health treatment. parenting skills training, and additional community resources.
