Since 2014 the Prince William County Department of Public Safety Communications has met the training standards for the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International Project 33 Training Program Certification. Public safety agencies utilize P33 Certification as a formal mechanism to ensure the training program meets with the APCO American National Standards (ANS).
Initial and continuing training for public safety telecommunicators is exceedingly important as we provide essential services to the public in an ever-expanding and rapidly changing public safety environment. Our curriculum, training materials and supporting documentation are submitted to APCO and checked for compliance with the rules and procedures that guide the certification process. The primary objective of the Agency Training Program Certification is to advance the training and professional development of public safety communications officials through the certification of the agency’s training program.
Receiving and maintaining certification for the training program is a major accomplishment for the agency, its staff and the community we serve. The APCO President said, “P33 Certification plays a vital role in keeping agencies up-to-date with their procedures and training programs. Prince William County Public Safety Communications has shown dedication to their community and those they serve by becoming P33 Certified.”
