- PreschoolImage
Our state-licensed Preschool prides itself on providing a quality program that emphasizes learning through play, in a safe and nurturing environment. Our Preschool provides thoughtfully planned experiences and opportunities, which stimulate learning in all developmental areas: social, emotional, physical, and cognitive.
We provide a balanced program that includes choice and structured activities, whole group, small group and individual activities, and teacher and child-directed experiences. Our classroom environments are designed to encourage exploration and interaction with other children, teachers, and learning materials. Our curriculum is centered on dramatic play, blocks, art, sensory, science, math, music, movement, language and literature experiences. We seek to instill a lifelong love of learning!
- Science in the ParkImage
This highly-rated program is based on the Virginia SOL Science curriculum. Our Science in the Park specialty instructors provide hands-on science lessons utilizing the resources of our beautiful parks as an outdoor classroom.
Elementary school teachers and homeschool groups will find Science in the Park a valuable enhancement to classroom instruction. Fall programs can be scheduled for September through mid-November and Spring programs can be scheduled from late March through May.

Parks & Recreation offers an expansive Scouting Program that’s run year round. Our trained BSA certified counselors will provide Cub Scouts the opportunity to earn rank advancement and Scouts BSA the opportunity to earn merit badges. Our Girl Scout badges meet the GS USA requirements and accomplish the whole badge in an event. The Girl Scout Journeys will start the badge with the Girl Scouts and walk them through to completion of the Take Action Project (TAP).

The Prince William County Parks & Recreation staff is acutely aware of the skyrocketing national statistics on obesity. Adult obesity has doubled since the 1970’s, with the prevalence of childhood and adolescent obesity percentages at double to quadruple percentages during the same time frame. One contributing factor, according to the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition, may be that on average, children now spend more than seven and a half hours a day in front of a screen.
The American Academy of Adolescent & Child Psychiatry notes that a positive experience with sports as a young child can have lasting effects that will help make for a more, well-rounded, well-adjusted adult.
As an active partner in our community’s Healthy Community Healthy Youth initiative, we take our responsibilities seriously. Currently, there are 37 registered leagues in Prince William County (youth and adult), representing 9 sports, with 31,322 active participants. We are committed to providing your child/camper a safe environment along with caring and experienced camp counselors and fun-filled days. Offering specialty camps from arts to sports plus everything in between and full day traditional style summer camps with popular themes each week all for ages 3-17 at 14 locations throughout Prince William County. Information for 2025 summer camps will be available in early 2025

Classes are offered year-round for infants (6 months) through adults at Prince William County Parks & Recreation's two indoor aquatic and fitness facilities. Offering Parent/Child classes, Infant Swim classes,
Preschool, Adult Beginner (ages 13+), Adult Advanced, Fear of Water classes, Adapted Swim (for beginners with disabilities) and Levels 1-6 for children.

- First Tee of Prince William CountyImage
First Tee is an international youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to young people. Through after school and in school programs, we help shape the lives of young people from all walks of life by reinforcing values like integrity, respect and perseverance through the game of golf. And it’s making a difference.
Our chapter is one of many in the First Tee network. First Tee is reaching young people in all 50 states and select international locations on golf courses, in elementary schools and through other youth-serving organizations.
- Fitness
Both Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center and Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center offer FREE Youth Equipment Orientations for ages 12-15. Orientations are required for this age group to use the fitness areas regardless of adult supervision. (i.e. being with a parent does not exclude the orientation requirement)
After Orientation:- Ages 12-13 can utilize the cardio equipment only.
- Ages 14-15 can utilize the cardio and selectorized strength equipment (machines).
In order to participate in these services, registration and appointment scheduling must be made in advance at the front desk of the respective facilities and must be signed off by Parent and Legal Guardians. All youth under 12 years are not eligible to utilize the fitness areas and must be accompanied and supervised by an adult 16 years or older when in the facilities.
