Record Copy Requests

Court Cases

To obtain a copy of your order,  you can complete the request online, and a clerk will contact you for payment or you can print and complete the Court Case Copy Request Form.  The form can be mailed or brought in person to the Judicial Center, Clerk of Circuit Court, Room 314, 9311 Lee Avenue, Manassas VA 20110. 

Cost for copies: $.50 per page not to exceed $10.00. Certified copies $2.00 per document. $10.00 for cases containing 100 pages or less, or $25.00 for cases containing 100 pages or more. Large requests are available by disk, USB Flash Drive & a Web Link.

Notes

  • Adoption and Juvenile Cases are restricted. Only parties to the case can have access and they must come to the Clerk's Office. That also applies to Sealed Cases although the index is available online.
  • If a divorce decree was issued in Prince William County, then a copy is available in Prince William. If a final divorce decree was obtained in another locality in Virginia, contact that locality or the Virginia Department of Health’s Office of Vital Statistics.

Marriage License

To obtain a certified copy of a marriage license issued by the Prince William Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, complete the request online, and a clerk will contact you for payment or you can print and complete the Marriage License Copy Request Form.  The form can be mailed or brought in person to the Judicial Center, Clerk of Circuit Court, Room 305, 9311 Lee Avenue, Manassas VA 20110. The fee per copy is $2.50.

Indexes are available online at Records for Occasional User from Jan. 1, 1981 to present.

Marriage licenses are not considered a legal document unless certified by the Clerk of Court. Anyone who obtained a marriage license in the Prince William Clerk's Office can obtain a certified copy of the license in the Clerk's Office Public Service Center, Room 305 or complete and mail the Marriage License Copy Request Form.

Note:
Copies of marriage licenses are available where the license was issued not necessarily where the ceremony was performed. If a marriage license was obtained in another locality in Virginia, contact that locality or the Virginia Department of Health’s Office of Vital Statistics.

DD-214

A certified copy of a DD-214 must be requested in person at the Judicial Center, Room 305.

Birth and Death

Birth and Death records can only be obtained from the Virginia Department of Health, although the Clerk's Office does have some historic records that may be of genealogical value.

Land & Other Records

For the following you can obtain your copies online by going to Records for Occasional User:

  • Deeds and Related Land Records Jan. 1, 1918 to present
  • Plats 1918 to present
  • Highway Plats Sept. 30, 1997 to Oct. 4, 2001 and April 24, 2009 to present
  • Fiduciaries (Wills, Probate, List of Heirs) Jan. 3, 1981 to present
  • Fictitious (Trade or Assumed) Names July 1, 1986 to present
  • Clerk's Orders (includes oaths) July 1, 1981 to present
  • UCC Filings (Financing Statements) 1989 to present (includes those filed prior to 1989 if continued)
  • Judgments Jan. 1, 1988 to present (For Jan. 1, 1998 to June 30, 1989, the index will reflect a Book and Page only. Judgment and release information will have to be viewed in the Clerk's Office unless the release was recorded after Jan. 1, 1998. For July 1, 1989 to Dec. 31, 1997, the index information will include more detailed online data, but no image. The more data screen may reflect a release date or it may be recorded as a separate entry in the index if recorded after Jan. 1, 1998. Judgments and releases recorded from Jan. 1, 1998 will have an associated image.)
  • Online wills & list of heirs 1734 – 1981: Historical Online Portal (HOP)
