With a few more weeks of freedom left, but summer traffic at its worst, some families may want to get one last end-of-summer outing in without spending a lot of time in stop-and-go interstate traffic. TRACKING BUSINESS RECORDS OF PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY |

RELIC has a number of directories and manuscript records of Prince William County businesses from the nineteenth century to the present.
Among the local business records in RELIC’s manuscripts collection are the following:
Papers of Elias E. Conner (1830 – 1909), primarily a collection of ledgers and business receipts from his general store near Manassas (1850s to 1870s), were donated to RELIC by a descendant. Some of the material has been scanned, but it still lacks organization and a finding aid.
An Alvey General Store Ledger, Catharpin, Virginia, 1870s, was left with RELIC some years ago. It still awaits some attention.
Account Book of W. Fletcher, Buckland, Va., July 1876 – July 1879. Westwood Fletcher (1845 – 1903) obtained a merchant’s license in May 1876 and April 1877. He seems not to have continued his store after that. In 2018, the owners of this ledger loaned it to RELIC to allow us to scan it.
